Job summary

Freese and Nichols, Inc. is seeking a National Technical Leader - Integrated Planning to guide multi-office teams in delivering customized planning solutions for cities and counties across the United States.

The role focuses on setting technical direction, developing standards and tools, and advancing training, collaboration, and innovation within the Integrated Planning practice. Strong leadership and communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering or related field.
• 15+ years of experience with demonstrated ability to lead others, deliver complex projects, and develop technical approaches for proposals.
• Outstanding communication and organizational skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently to achieve results.
• Recognized technical expert in a specific service or discipline within Transportation.
• Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Experience developing and implementing practice-wide standards, processes, and tools.
• Experience building technical training programs and supporting long-term capability development.
• Experience serving as a senior advisor and/or quality control reviewer on complex work.
• Experience presenting at conferences and engaging with technical committees and industry groups.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Practice Leaders to align market needs with internal capabilities, strengths, and gaps.
• Set and communicate technical direction to ensure consistent delivery across teams and offices.
• Develop, maintain, and implement practice standards, processes, and tools for quality improvement.
• Coordinate quality leadership across the practice including senior advisors and reviewers.
• Build and drive technical training and development pathways from onboarding through advanced practice.
• Sponsor and advance innovation and R&D efforts to improve delivery.
• Collaborate on applied technology enablement (GIS, AI, VDC) to support delivery needs.
• Support technical elements of pursuits, including approaches, resourcing, and proposal reviews.
• Lead growth of Integrated Planning capabilities for local city/county clients.
