Job summary

Somnio is seeking a Technical Leader to guide a development team delivering client-focused software. You will own the technical direction, combining hands-on work with leadership to build Flutter mobile or Next.js/React web solutions, with Python on the backend.

You will mentor engineers, define architecture, and ensure delivery quality while leveraging AI features to accelerate delivery and improve quality. This is a fully remote role with international projects.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software development experience.
• 3+ years leading technical teams.
• Strong experience with Flutter or Next.js and React.
• Experience with Python backend development.
• Experience designing scalable architectures and making trade-offs.
• Experience acting as the technical counterpart to clients or stakeholders.
• Clear communication with team and clients.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture and technical direction for the project and ensure the team follows it.
• Lead the team day to day: plan work, unblock people and review code.
• Stay hands-on in the codebase.
• Serve as the technical contact for the client: estimate timelines, raise risks, propose solutions.
• Set and maintain quality standards: testing, code reviews, CI/CD, documentation.
• Mentor engineers and help them grow.
• Incorporate AI into the team's workflow to improve speed and quality.

About the role

We’re looking for a Technical Leader to guide a development team building products for our clients. You’ll own the technical direction of the project, with a strong background in Flutter for mobile or Next.js and React for web, and Python on the backend. You’ll stay hands-on while helping the team grow.

What we’re looking for

• 7+ years of experience in software development, and 3+ leading technical teams.

• Strong experience with Flutter or Next.js and React.

• Experience with Python for backend work.

• Experience designing architectures that scale and making technical trade-offs.

• Experience as the technical counterpart of a client or stakeholders.

• Clear communication, both with the team and with the client.

Nice to have

• Experience with both mobile and web.

• Cloud experience (AWS, GCP or Azure).

• Experience in a software factory or consultancy.

• Experience building products with LLMs or AI features.

How we work

We’re 100% remote. Our projects are global and involve direct contact with clients, which is why we look for an English level of B2 or higher, and some clients require C1 as a minimum. We work on a contractor basis.

This is a flexible project opportunity, with models from 20 to 40 hours a week.
