Job summary

Saber Power Services, based in Houston, TX, seeks an Engineer III / Structural to lead complex substation design packages, perform advanced structural analyses, and oversee junior engineers. The role requires coordinating with project teams, reviewing drawings and reports, and ensuring design quality across critical infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Eight years of structural design experience required, preferably with substation or utility projects.
• Advanced knowledge of structural analysis and steel/concrete design principles.
• Strong understanding of ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318, NESC, and IEEE standards.
• ABET-accredited degree in Civil/Structural Engineering; PE eligible.
• Experience with AutoCAD and MicroStation; proficiency in STAAD, SAP2000, ETABS.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design of substation projects including steel framing, foundations, equipment supports, and control buildings.
• Perform and check complex structural analyses and calculations.
• Develop and review detailed design deliverables including drawings, specifications, and design reports.
• Coordinate with project management, procurement, and construction teams to ensure constructability and quality.
• Mentor, oversee, and provide technician training to junior engineers and designers.
• Participate in site visits, construction support, and forensic evaluations.
• Support implementation of design standards, process improvements, and best practices.
