Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Staff System Engineer focused on Mechatronic Flash Programming to define and improve flash‑programming requirements, architectures, tools, and validation strategies for advanced mechatronic systems across GM vehicle programs.

You will serve as a technical lead across development, manufacturing, OTA, and service programming environments, linking system requirements, embedded software, diagnostics, cybersecurity, and test automation to deliver reliable vehicle software

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
10+ years of experience in Software Development with embedded systems or automotive applications.
Experience with automotive flash programming, embedded systems, diagnostics, and software requirements.
Experience developing or reviewing software, scripts, engineering tools, or test automation.
Experience with agile software development and lifecycle processes.
Experience using Wireshark or similar tools to analyze PCAP and diagnostic traffic.

Responsibilities

Define and deliver flash-programming requirements and solutions for advanced mechatronic systems across GM vehicle programs.
Lead programming strategies for development, manufacturing, OTA, and service environments.
Partner with software, hardware, diagnostics, cybersecurity, manufacturing, and vehicle-integration teams to deliver reliable solutions.
Develop and improve programming tools, diagnostics, scripts, and automated tests.
Analyze programming issues, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions.
Maintain requirements, test coverage, traceability, and technical documentation.
Establish reusable standards and practices that improve programming quality, efficiency, and scalability.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and roadmap direction for programming capabilities in future architectures.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on complex programming tasks.
Define and track KPIs for flash programming quality and efficiency.
