Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Staff System Engineer specializing in Mechatronic Flash Programming to define and implement flash-programming requirements across GM vehicle programs.

The role leads across development, manufacturing, OTA, and service programming environments, connecting requirements, diagnostics, and test automation to deliver reliable software updates. Hybrid work is expected, with relocation benefits available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Software Development for embedded systems or automotive applications.
• Experience with automotive flash programming, embedded systems, diagnostics, and software requirements.
• Experience across the software or systems development lifecycle and with agile methods.
• Experience with developing or reviewing software, scripts, engineering tools, or test automation.

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver flash-programming requirements and solutions for advanced mechatronic systems across GM vehicle programs.
• Lead programming strategies for development, manufacturing, OTA, and service environments.
• Partner with software, hardware, diagnostics, cybersecurity, manufacturing, and vehicle-integration teams to deliver reliable solutions.
• Develop and improve programming tools, diagnostics, scripts, and automated tests.
• Analyze programming issues, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions.
• Maintain requirements, test coverage, traceability, and technical documentation.
• Establish reusable standards and practices that improve programming quality, efficiency, and scalability.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and roadmap direction for programming capabilities in future architectures.
