Job summary

Google seeks a Software Engineer Uber Technical Lead for FMOD to drive large-scale infrastructure projects with a focus on capacity planning, fungibility, and AI accelerator initiatives. The role demands deep C++ expertise, leadership, and experience navigating matrixed organizations.

As part of the FMOD team, you will partner with global infrastructure, product management, and engineering to optimize capacity, reduce costs, and deliver scalable systems for NPIs and AI workloads at hyperscale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience programming in C++.
• 7 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or related areas.
• 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead advanced VM shape-based capacity planning and workload prediction to optimize regional and zonal resource distribution.
• Architect and implement fungibility solutions and capacity-sharing infrastructure across teams.
• Drive capacity savings and operational efficiency by creating compute/storage overcommit technologies and improving scheduling.
• Enable NPIs and AI accelerator initiatives (GPUs/TPUs) through deterministic capacity observability and interfaces.
• Guide executive decision-makers on cloud infrastructure investments and cross-organization collaboration.
