Job summary

Google is seeking a Software Engineer Uber Technical Lead, Infrastructure, FMOD to lead advanced VM capacity planning and design scalable infrastructure for NPIs and AI workloads. You will coordinate cross-functional teams across GGF/ACI to drive efficiency and ensure availability of compute resources in cloud environments.

Role emphasizes leadership, architectural judgment, and execution of capacity-sharing, with a focus on cost optimization, reliability, and enabling rapid capacity scaling

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience programming in C++.
• 7 years building large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or related compute/storage.
• 5 years in design/architecture and testing/launching software products.

Responsibilities

• Lead advanced VM shape-based capacity planning and workload prediction to optimize regional and zonal resource distribution.
• Ensure infrastructure meets GCP customer demands while navigating VM product heterogeneity to reduce costs and avoid stock-outs.
• Architect and implement fungibility solutions and capacity-sharing infrastructure across ACI and Central Fleet.
• Drive capacity savings and operational efficiency by creating compute/storage overcommit technologies, minimizing overheads and holdbacks.
• Enable NPIs and AI accelerator initiatives through deterministic capacity observability and unified interfaces.
• Guide executive decision-makers on cloud infrastructure investments by partnering with GCE and product engineering.
• Lead horizontal efforts spanning multiple organizations to ensure rapid, cost-effective capacity scaling.
