Job summary

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information. This role sits in the FMOD capacity team within Google’s AI and Computing Infrastructure group, focusing on capacity planning, performance, and scalable infra for VM pools and AI workloads.

You will partner with GCE, Cloud Capacity Planning, and product engineering to drive efficiency, reduce costs, and enable rapid capacity scaling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience programming in C++.
• 7 years building large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or related compute technologies.
• 5 years in design and architecture and launching software products.
• Preferred: Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience in technical leadership roles is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead advanced VM shape-based capacity planning and workload prediction to optimize regional and zonal resource distribution.
• Architect and implement fungibility solutions and capacity-sharing infrastructure across ACI and Central Fleet.
• Drive capacity savings by creating compute/storage overcommit technologies and reduce holdbacks.
• Enable NPIs and AI accelerator initiatives (GPUs/TPUs) through capacity observability and unified interfaces.
• Guide executives on cloud infrastructure investments by partnering with GCE and product engineering.
