Job summary

Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) seeks a Technical Laboratory Coordinator in the Mechanical Engineering department on the College Station campus. This staff position focuses on supervision and instruction for students in the machine shop and rapid prototyping studio, with emphasis on safe equipment use and fabrication of parts.

You will lead training, provide technical assistance to staff and faculty, and perform mechanical fabrication tasks from drawings while supporting lab

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Three years of related experience in laboratory operations.
  • Five years of related experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Lead training sessions for mechanical engineering students on manual shop equipment, CNC machines, and related software.
  • Provide technical assistance and instructional support to students, staff, and faculty in the machine shop and rapid prototyping studio.
  • Performs semi-complex jobs of a mechanical nature.
  • Manufactures parts from steel, aluminum, or other materials from drawings, prints, or verbal instruction to tolerance.
  • Manufactures parts consisting of gears, threads, shafts, adaptors, jigs, and fixtures to close tolerances.
  • Provides support to laboratories and maintains lab equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
