Job summary
Texas A&M University Space Institute, Houston, TX, seeks a Laboratory Coordinator to manage daily machine shop operations, instrument usage, and safety training. This role reports to the Laboratory Manager and provides hands-on machining support to tenants, staff, and users, including machining, fabrication, and equipment training.
The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and at least 4 years of machining/fabrication experience, with preference for CNC/manual
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
- 4+ years machining/fabrication experience.
- United States citizenship required.
Responsibilities
- Operate CNC mills, lathes and welding tools to fabricate parts and components.
- Support fabrication of parts, prototypes, and custom components for tenants and Institute programs.
- Track labor, materials, equipment utilization, and project activities for planning and documentation.
- Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of machine shop equipment.
- Coordinate machine shop scheduling, reservations, and shop resource utilization; assist with procurement and planning.
- Assist in training tenants, staff, and users on equipment operation and safety procedures.
