Job summary

  • Plan and execute a structured daily/weekly site-visit itinerary in coordination with the sales team.
  • Market intelligence: collect and report on ongoing projects, material requirements, and competitor activity.

Position Summary

The Technical Engineer is a newly created, field-facing technical sales support role. Working in close partnership with the Sales team (Sales Executives, Sales In-charge, and Sales Managers), the Technical Engineer's core mandate is to build technical credibility for the brand on the ground engaging directly with influencers, end users, dealers, engineers, and architects to educate them on product technical parameters and influence purchase and specification decisions in the brand's favour. The role demands extensive travel and frequent site visits across the assigned territory.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Influencing & Relationship Building
  • Engage directly with influencers, end users, dealers, site engineers, consulting engineers, and architects to promote the brand and explain technical parameters, product specifications, and application advantages.
  • Conduct on-site and at-dealer-counter technical discussions to convert technical understanding into brand preference and specification.
  • Build and sustain strong, trust-based relationships with masons, civil contractors, bar benders, builders, project consultants, and dealer/sub-dealer teams.
  • Represent the brand at dealer counters, addressing walk-in end users and influencers with accurate technical guidance.
Site Visits & Field Coverage
  • Undertake regular and extensive travel to visit construction sites, project locations, dealer points, and influencer meeting points across the assigned territory.
  • Meet site engineers, purchase teams, project managers, and contractors on-site to generate and follow up on enquiries.
  • Plan and execute a structured daily/weekly site-visit itinerary in coordination with the sales team.
Influencer Program Management
  • Enrol new influencers (masons, contractors, engineers, architects) into the company's influencer loyalty programs.
  • Monitor influencer activity, track conversion, and drive activation of enrolled influencers.
  • Organize and conduct regular counter meets, technical meetings, and influencer engagement activities.
Sales Support & Coordination
  • Work closely with Sales Officers, In-charges, and Managers to identify new business opportunities and support lead generation.
  • Coordinate with the internal sales team on quotations, pricing, order conversion, and delivery follow-up.
  • Support conversion of site-generated leads into dealer billing and direct sales.
  • Assist in branding and promotional activities at project sites and dealer locations.
Market Intelligence & Reporting
  • Collect and report on ongoing and upcoming projects, material requirements, and competitor brands/activity at site.
  • Track and report daily site visits, leads generated, customer feedback, and market updates to the reporting manager.
Required Skills & Competencies
  • Sound technical knowledge of construction materials, site practices, and product application relevant to the industry.
  • Excellent communication, persuasion, and technical explanation skills to influence a wide range of stakeholders from masons and contractors to engineers and architects.
  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills across all levels of the influencer and dealer ecosystem.
  • High willingness and physical ability to travel extensively and undertake frequent site visits.
  • Self-driven, energetic, and comfortable working independently in the field.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Excel / CRM tools for reporting and tracking.
  • Good local market knowledge of the assigned territory (preferred).
  • Valid two-wheeler driving license and willingness to travel by two-wheeler where required.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Number of site visits and influencer/dealer meetings per day/week.
  • Number of new influencers enrolled and activated.
  • New project leads and enquiries generated.
  • Conversion of leads into dealer orders / billing / direct sales.
  • New contractor, builder, and architect relationships established.
  • Monthly territory sales target achievement (in coordination with sales team).
  • Quality and timeliness of competitor tracking and market intelligence reports.
Preferred Candidate Profile
  • Energetic, confident, and assertive in field and face-to-face interactions.
  • Genuinely willing to travel extensively and spend the majority of working time on-site/in-field.
  • Fast learner with strong self-motivation and ownership.
  • Existing network with contractors, builders, engineers, or architects is a strong added advantage.
  • Must possess a two-wheeler and a valid driving license.
