Job summary

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. seeks a Riding Team Technical Director – Engines to lead in-house teams executing major marine engine overhauls aboard our vessels. You will combine deep diesel/dual-fuel engine expertise with strong leadership, planning, and coordination to deliver cost-efficient, safe, and high-quality engine overhaul work.

Qualifications

• 15+ years direct experience overhauling large marine diesel or dual-fuel engines, preferably on cruise ships.
• Hands-on experience with MAN and/or Wärtsilä engine systems (factory training and OEM work history preferred).
• Experience supervising technical teams

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Technical Superintendents to confirm project scopes for major main engine overhauls, including planning, parts, and manpower requirements.
• Manage and schedule Engine Overhaul Riding Teams, ensuring optimal allocation of resources across the fleet.
• Ensure riding teams are trained, certified, and equipped for large engine overhaul tasks.
• Oversee maintenance and management of specialized toolboxes and equipment for engine overhaul operations.
• Monitor and supervise execution of riding team overhauls onboard to ensure adherence to scope, timelines, and quality.
• Maintain compliance with safety policies, environmental standards, and classification society rules.
• Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting for complex engine issues.
• Maintain an archive of engine bulletins from manufacturers and disseminate fleet-wide.
• Develop best practices and lessons learned documents for fleet standardization.
• Develop and submit progress and final reports to the Director of Technical Services and ship-assigned Technical Superintendents.
• Promote safety culture, continuous improvement, and technical excellence within riding teams.
• Support cost control and performance measurement by tracking efficiency and results
