Job summary

Sweet Apparel Inc. in Midtown Manhattan seeks a full-time Technical Designer for the Children's division. You will lead fit, tech packs, and production-ready specs for Girls and Boys styles, from 2T to 16, across knits and wovens.

You will coordinate daily with factories, maintain sample libraries, and ensure on-time delivery while upholding safety standards and private-label requirements. NYC on-site role.

Qualifications

• Degree in Technical Design or Fashion Design.
• 5+ years experience in Technical Design.
• Knowledge of sewing construction, patternmaking, garment manufacturing, and fabrics.
• Proficient in PLM and Excel.
• Knowledge of Clo3D is helpful.
• Attention to detail, sense of urgency, willingness to learn, team-player.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Work with multiple product categories (tops, dresses, skirts, pants, athleisure, sweaters, sleepwear) for Girls and Boys divisions (sizes 2T–16) Knits and Wovens.
• Accurately measure Fit/PP/TOP samples.
• Attend fit sessions and take detailed notes.
• Identify and call out fit/construction/workmanship issues and communicate corrections to factory.
• Create initial tech packs for costing and fit sample submits.
• Ensure all corrections are made at the pre-production sample stage to perfect fit/quality for production.
• Work with Private label accounts to achieve desired fit.
• Knowledge of Children’s apparel safety regulations and standards.
• Knowledge of grading and ability to issue graded specs.
• Communicate with factories daily to send fit comments/tech packs and resolve issues.
• Adhere to calendar to ensure deadlines are met.
• Track and manage sample status.
• Assist with keeping sample library organized.
• Build collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams including design, merchandising, production, and sales.

Sweet Apparel Inc. is a leader in Junior's, Women's, Men's, and Kids fast fashion apparel. Sweet Apparel designs, manufactures, and imports apparel under its own labels as well as multiple Private labels. Our clothing can be found at major retailers including TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, Macy's, and more.

We are growing and looking for a full-time, Technical Designer to join the Childrenswear team on-site at the Midtown Manhattan office!

Please note: this is an on-site position in Midtown Manhattan where we work in office 5 days/week!

Key Responsibilities
