Job summary

Sweet Apparel Inc. in Midtown Manhattan is seeking a Senior Technical Designer to join the Childrenswear team on-site. You will manage fit, create tech packs, and collaborate with design, merchandising, production, and sales to ensure product quality.

You will work across Girls and Boys categories (2T–16), oversee grading, and communicate with factories daily to resolve fit and workmanship issues while meeting calendar deadlines. This is an on-site, five-days-a-week role.

Qualifications

• Degree in Technical Design or Fashion Design.
• 8+ years of Technical Design experience.
• Knowledge of sewing construction, patternmaking, garment manufacturing, and fabrics.
• Proficient in PLM and Excel; Clo3D is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Work across Girls and Boys categories (2T–16) for knits and wovens, ensuring fit and construction.
• Accurately measure Fit/PP/TOP samples.
• Attend fit sessions and take detailed notes.
• Identify and communicate fit/construction/workmanship issues to factories and issue clear corrections.
• Create initial tech packs for costing and fit sample submissions.

Sweet Apparel Inc. is a leader in Junior's, Women's, Men's, and Kids fast fashion apparel. Sweet Apparel designs, manufactures, and imports apparel under its own labels as well as multiple Private labels. Our clothing can be found at major retailers including TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, Macy's, and more.

We are growing and looking for a full-time, Senior Technical Designer to join the Childrenswear team on-site at the Midtown Manhattan office!

Please note: this is an on-site position in Midtown Manhattan where we work in office 5 days/week!

Key Responsibilities

• Work with multiple product categories (tops, dresses, skirts, pants, athleisure, sweaters, sleepwear) for Girls and Boys divisions (sizes 2T–16) Knits and Wovens.
• Accurately measure Fit/PP/TOP samples
• Attend fit sessions and take detailed notes
• Responsible for identifying and calling out any fit/construction/workmanship issues to be addressed and communicating all corrections and revisions to factory
• Create initial tech packs for costing and fit sample submits
• Ensure all corrections have been made at the pre-production sample stage to perfect the fit/quality for production.
• Work with Private label accounts to achieve desired fit
• Knowledge of Children’s apparel safety regulations and standards
• Knowledge of grading and ability to issue graded specs
• Communicate with factories daily to send fit comments/tech packs and resolve any issues/advise on questions
• Ability to adhere to calendar to ensure deadlines are met
• Track and manage sample status
• Assist with keeping sample library organized
• Build collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams including design, merchandising, production, and sales.
