Job summary

Gensler Phoenix is seeking an experienced Technical Designer (Job Captain) for Critical Facilities with a broad architectural background and data center/advanced manufacturing project experience. You will collaborate with designers and architects to produce technical documentation and communicate progress to team members, ensuring client expectations are met.

Applicants must have 5+ years post-graduation experience, a Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field, and proficiency in Revit,

Responsibilities

• Partner with Project Architect to produce accurate technical and contract documentation for construction.
• Provide project team coordination for incorporating design intent into the construction documentation.
• Participate in construction administration, evaluate bids, conduct site visits, address technical issues, and maintain quality control.
• Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, and regulators to meet project objectives.
• Utilize hand and 3D software renderings to communicate design concepts.

Gensler Phoenix is currently seeking an experienced Technical Designer (Job Captain) – Critical Facilities with a successful track record and well-rounded, broad architectural background with project experience in multiple typologies, including, but not limited to Critical Facilities and Advanced Manufacturing (i.e. data centers, command and control centers, high-performance computing, advanced manufacturing, semi-conductor labs etc.). In this position, you will collaborate with a team of designers and architects to produce technical documentation and communicate project progress to team members, ensuring our projects exceed client expectations.

Our Critical Facilities practice is uniquely equipped to deliver high-performance data centers bydrawing onexpertisefrom across Gensler’s diverse practice areas. We assemble specialized teams within our Critical Facilities group to design and execute data center projects that meet the complex needs of today’s technology-driven organizations. This work sits at the intersection of architecture, infrastructure, and innovation - making it an exciting space for professionals who want to shape the future of digital environments. In addition to data centers, our team brings deep experience in mission-critical environments such as research and supercomputing facilities,commandand control centers, and SCIFs. The complexity and impact of these projects offer rich opportunities for learning, advancement, and long-term career growth.

What You Will Do

• Partner with Project Architect to produce accurate technical and contract documentation for construction of project
• Provide project team coordination for incorporating design intent into the construction documentation
• Participate in construction administration, evaluate bids, conduct site visits, address technical issues, and maintain quality control during construction
• Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives
• Utilize hand and 3D software renderings to communicate design concepts

Your Qualifications

• 5+ years of post graduation experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field
• Experience with Critical Facilities and Advanced Manufacturing (i.e. data centers, command and control centers, high-performance computing, semi-conductor labs etc.) or similarly complex projects required
• Knowledge of building codes, zoning, jurisdictional processes, building materials, specifications, and construction techniques
• Experience in construction document preparation and field observation
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop)
• Proficient in Revit, Rhino, SketchUp and other 3D modeling software
