Job summary

Reflex Performance Resources INC. in New York seeks an experienced technical apparel designer to lead initial proto fit and technical development across Women’s, Men’s and Kids lines.

This role requires strong grading, construction knowledge and fit, with ability to translate concepts into clear specs for vendors. You will collaborate with design teams and overseas factories, manage Tech Packs, track sample status, and mentor the Product Development team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in Apparel Product development, Technical Design, or related field.
• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Merchandising, Product Development or related field.
• Strong understanding of fashion design to production process from concept to final product.
• Experience with CAD software, design tools, Google Sheets, PowerPoint and Excel.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking an experienced technical apparel designer to lead initial proto fit and technical development across Women’s, Men’s and Kids apparel. This role requires strong experience in grading, construction knowledge and fit. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively with internal departments and overseas factories. PLM experience is a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Help translate design concepts into clear specs for Tech Packs that are ultimately passed to our vendors for initial samples.
• Work closely with design teams to fine-tune product details, ensuring quality, fit, and functionality while meeting brand standards
• Experience supporting development across multiple apparel categories and size ranges including kids, plus missy and men’s.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams (e.g., design, technical and production) to streamline processes and ensure smooth project flow
• Monitor and adjust project timelines as needed to stay aligned with product development goals
• Communicate with overseas vendors to track sample status, timelines, and development updates
• Ensure vendors are meeting sampling timelines and development expectations
• Collaborate with production technical teams, attend initial fits while helping to maintain product intent through the development process and in production.
• Assist in evaluating construction and recommend improvements where appropriate to designers
• Proficiency in PLM is not required but is a plus
• Complete understanding of Microsoft office
• Kids and Plus experience is a plus

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in either Apparel Product development, Technical Design, or a related apparel field
• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Merchandising, Product Development, Fashion Design, Production, or a related apparel field
• Strong understanding of the fashion design and production process from concept to final product into production
• Experience with CAD software, design tools, google sheets, power point and excel are a must
• Create and Maintain Tech Packs
• Must have extensive knowledge of fabrics, garment construction and the ability to measure garments.
• Ability to analyze workload and plan accordingly
• Must be deadline driven and detail oriented
• Must be able to multitask and work in fast paced environment
• Must have excellent communication and follow through skills
• Must work well in a team environment and Lead, mentor and help develop the Product Development technical team
