Job summary

Event Services Group (ESG) is seeking an experienced Director of Technical Design & Development to lead the team responsible for the technical design and development of custom elements and environments for live events, experiential activations, trade shows, retail displays, and branded environments.

This senior role bridges Creative Design Conceptualization and Real World Production, transforming concepts into build-ready drawings, costed solutions, and scalable fabrication workflows across

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of designing and detailing custom fabricated environments
• Experience creating fabrication documentation and shop drawings
• Strong understanding of CNC manufacturing and digital fabrication workflows
• Knowledge of wood, foam, acrylic, aluminum fabrication and graphic integration
• Leadership experience in guiding technical design or fabrication teams

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical development of custom scenic elements from concept through execution
• Translate renderings into fabrication packages, shop drawings, and installation documentation
• Determine optimal construction methodologies, materials, and assembly techniques
• Develop fabrication solutions balancing aesthetics, durability, budget, and efficiency
• Ensure designs are production-ready and executable within timelines
• Provide constructability guidance to Creative and Sales teams
• Evaluate client requests for feasibility before pricing commitments
• Lead cross-functional collaboration with Creative, Sales, Operations, and Fabrication teams
