Job summary

MCL Construction seeks skilled craftsmen to lead hands-on training and mentoring on active projects, keeping hands in the work while sharing best practices and safety standards.

You will run toolbox talks, coach apprentices, and develop simple training aids to uplift the field team’s skills and efficiency. This role emphasizes staying hands-on and avoiding management tracks.

Qualifications

• Hands-on craft experience as a skilled tradesperson.
• Experience teaching or mentoring: toolbox talks or apprenticeship.
• NCCER Instructor certification preferred; OSHA 30 preferred.
• Recognized as a trusted on-site resource.

Responsibilities

• Train, mentor, and coach crews on best practices, quality standards, and safe work methods.
• Run toolbox talks, mentor apprentices, and build simple job aids and training materials.
• Partner with foremen and superintendents to raise technical skill across projects.
• Serve as a trusted, go‑to resource for crews without taking on management or P&L responsibility.
• Stay connected to industry training standards and bring new methods back to the field.

• Bring deep, current hands‑on craft expertise and stay sharp on techniques, tools, and methods.
• Train, mentor, and coach crews on best practices, quality standards, and safe work methods.

The Skills Behind The Build

• Deep, hands‑on experience as a skilled tradesperson or craft professional (Foreman, Journeyman, Lead Carpenter, or equivalent).
• Proven track record of teaching or mentoring — toolbox talks, apprentice mentoring, an instructor credential, or similar.
• NCCER Instructor certification preferred.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred.
• Recognized by peers as a trusted, go‑to resource on the job site.
• Genuine interest in staying hands‑on and teaching — not using this as a stepping stone back into management.
