Job summary

Securian Financial is seeking a Financial Reporting Consultant to join our Technical Accounting team in a hybrid role in the United States. You will research accounting guidance, advise on complex transactions, and partner with cross-functional teams and external auditors to finalize positions and policies.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, public accounting experience, and strong technical accounting skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
• Public accounting experience or accounting consulting background preferred.
• Strong technical accounting skills and ability to resolve complex issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with financial services accounting practices and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Independently research new or proposed accounting guidance and assess impact.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze appropriate accounting treatment.
• Build relationships across the organization to provide guidance on initiatives.
• Prepare technical accounting documentation and liaise with auditors and consultants.
• Maintain library of technical accounting policies and assist audit responses.
• Work with external auditors to address technical accounting matters as needed.
• Communicate with senior leadership on technical accounting issues and projects.
• Execute projects timely with cross-functional teams and documentation.
