Job summary

Securian Financial Group is seeking a Financial Reporting Consultant to join our Technical Accounting team. You will research accounting guidance, analyze complex issues, and provide expert consultation affecting policy and reporting.

You’ll collaborate with stakeholders and external auditors to ensure compliant financial statements while supporting evolving business initiatives. This role offers a hybrid work environment with in-office collaboration several days a week and opportunities for

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience researching, interpreting and resolving complex accounting issues.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present to stakeholders.
• Familiarity with financial services accounting practices and reporting.
• Self-motivated with ability to learn and adapt to change.

Responsibilities

• Execute research for new or proposed accounting guidance changes (US GAAP, NAIC, Bermuda).
• Collaborate with stakeholders to assess accounting treatment for special projects/transactions.
• Maintain relationships to provide guidance on evolving business initiatives.
• Prepare technical accounting documentation and work with external auditors through review.
• Assist in maintaining library of technical accounting policies.
• Communicate with senior leadership on technical accounting matters and projects.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to implement new initiatives and documentation.
