• Support the preparation, review, and filing of SEC reports and registration statements.
• Assist with financial statements, footnotes, MD&A, and related SEC disclosures.
• Provide support for transaction-related and capital markets reporting requirements.
• Research and evaluate complex technical accounting matters under U.S. GAAP and SEC guidance.
• Prepare technical accounting memoranda documenting positions, conclusions and recommendations.
• Develop, review, and update corporate accounting policies and procedures for GAAP and SEC alignment.
• Coordinate with external auditors and outside advisors on SEC reporting and conclusions.
• Support quarterly and annual reporting processes and related projects.

We are seeking an experienced SEC Reporting, Technical Accounting & Accounting Policy Consultant to provide interim support to a public company accounting and finance team.

This individual will serve as a hands-on technical accounting and external reporting resource, supporting SEC filings, proxy statements, technical accounting matters, accounting policy, and other complex financial reporting initiatives.

The ideal consultant will have significant public company experience and be comfortable stepping into a fast-paced environment to provide immediate support with both recurring SEC reporting requirements and more complex or transaction-related filings.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the preparation, review, and filing of SEC reports and registration statements, including:
• Other SEC filings and disclosures as needed
• Assist with the preparation and review of financial statements, footnotes, MD&A, and related SEC disclosures.
• Provide support for transaction-related and capital markets reporting requirements, including registration statements and related financial information.
• Research and evaluate complex technical accounting matters under U.S. GAAP and applicable SEC guidance.
• Prepare clear and well-supported technical accounting memoranda documenting accounting positions, conclusions, and recommendations.
• Develop, review, and update corporate accounting policies and procedures to ensure alignment with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements.
• Provide guidance on accounting treatment for complex, unusual, or non-routine transactions.
• Monitor new accounting pronouncements and SEC developments, assess their impact, and support implementation of new guidance.
• Partner with Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting, Legal, Tax, FP&A, Internal Audit, and other stakeholders on reporting and technical accounting matters;
• Coordinate with external auditors and outside advisors regarding SEC reporting, technical accounting conclusions, and supporting documentation.
• Support quarterly and annual reporting processes and other special projects as needed.
• Ability to work independently, quickly assess complex accounting matters, and provide immediate value with minimal ramp-up.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to translate complex accounting guidance into clear, practical recommendations.
