SEC Reporting & Accounting Policy Senior

Position Overview
We are seeking an SEC Reporting & Accounting Policy Senior to join the Corporate Accounting team of a large, publicly traded global organization. This role will support the preparation of SEC filings and external financial reporting while also providing exposure to technical accounting research, accounting policy, and complex transactions.
This is a broad corporate accounting role that goes beyond traditional SEC reporting. The position will spend approximately 60% of its time supporting SEC reporting and 40% on accounting policy and technical accounting matters, particularly outside of quarterly and year-end reporting cycles.
The ideal candidate will have a strong public accounting background, experience with public-company clients, a solid foundation in U.S. GAAP, and an interest in transitioning into a corporate accounting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of Form 10-K and Form 10-Q filings, including financial statements, footnotes, and other required disclosures
- Support quarterly earnings materials and management reporting packages
- Assist with additional SEC filings, including Form 8-K and proxy-related reporting
- Research technical accounting issues and prepare accounting memoranda
- Evaluate new accounting standards and assess their impact on financial reporting
- Assist with accounting analysis for complex and non-routine transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, impairments, revenue recognition, leases, financing transactions, derivatives, guarantees, and foreign currency matters
- Partner with Corporate Accounting, Consolidations, Tax, Treasury, Legal, FP&A, M&A, and Business Finance teams on accounting and reporting matters
- Support the maintenance and monitoring of internal controls over the external reporting process, including SOX 404 controls
- Work closely with internal and external auditors to communicate accounting and reporting matters
- Support the preparation and review of financial statement disclosures and other external reporting requirements
- Assist with accounting research, peer reviews, and analysis of industry practices
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate SEC reporting and technical accounting processes through technology and data analytics
- Support special projects and other responsibilities as assigned by accounting leadership
Qualifications
- CPA required
- Approximately 4+ years of public accounting experience (Big 4 preferred)
- Experience auditing public-company clients
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Exposure to SEC reporting, including Forms 10-K and 10-Q
- Strong technical accounting foundation
- Experience researching accounting issues and applying accounting guidance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Ability to work effectively both independently and cross-functionally
- Comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment with visibility to senior accounting leadership
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with financial statements and footnote disclosures
- MD&A or earnings-release experience
- Experience preparing technical accounting memoranda
- SOX/internal controls experience
- Experience serving global or multinational public-company clients
- Strong Senior-level candidate making a first transition from public accounting into industry
