Job summary

Cambridge Public Schools’ Library Information and Technology (LIT) Instructional Aide at CRLS supports the busy, tech-rich high school library. You will assist students, help locate resources, and manage catalog operations while promoting welcoming, inclusive services for staff and a diverse student body.

Your role blends clerical, technical, and customer service duties, including assisting with databases, e-resources, and AV needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative skills.
• Experience working with a diverse high school population.
• Comfortable with multiple operating systems, online databases, and productivity tools.
• Knowledge of library systems, materials processing, and shelving practices.
• Interest in or experience with librarianship is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Library Support: Greet and monitor students and classes using the library.
• Assist users in locating books, accessing resources, and using the online catalog.
• Circulate materials using the library automation system.
• Process new materials and manage weeding of outdated items.
• Update the CRLS library calendar and monitor CRLS email communications.
• Help create and promote book displays, bulletin boards, and other outreach.
• Serve as Falcon Block Advisor and support the Inquiry Lab.
• Maintain an organized, inviting physical environment.
• Technology Assistance: Guide students and staff in using e-resources (databases, ebooks, audiobooks).
• Troubleshoot access to Google Workspace, network accounts, and other applications.
• Manage and maintain library technology and media equipment.
• Generate usage reports and support events with AV setup.
