Job summary

Chime is seeking a Technical Lead Manager to lead the CI/CD team, owning how every engineer builds, tests, and safely ships code. You’ll stay hands-on about 40% of the time, authoring PRs and guiding a four-engineer team, while also managing people, planning, and delivery processes.

In this player-coach role, you’ll set the strategy for the CI/CD surface, ensure reliable release systems, and drive safe delivery at scale across the Critical Path.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• 2+ years leading or managing engineers.
• Delivery CI/CD, build/release, or developer-productivity systems.
• Hands-on with CI systems (GitHub Actions, CircleCI) in production (must-have).
• Strong development experience in Ruby, Go, Python, or comparable languages.
• Experience with progressive and safe delivery: canaries, release gating, feature flagging, and rollback strategies.
• Strong understanding of operating production systems at scale: reliability, observability, incident response.
• Ability to balance delivery velocity against safety, reliability, and technical-debt realities.
• Demonstrated use of AI coding agents and tooling to accelerate development.
• Customer-obsessed mindset toward internal developers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and collaborative leadership.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Argo CD, or GitOps-based deployment in production.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship, hands-on. Author and review PRs landing in production; own technical direction and design discussions.
• Lead and grow the team: 1:1s, coaching, performance feedback, promotions, hiring; mentor engineers toward Staff/ TLM paths.
• Own the CI/CD platform: direct build/integration delivery with docs and low friction adoption.
• Be accountable for safe delivery at scale: release-safety toolkit, incident prevention/responses, SLAs.
• Balance platform-team work: trade-offs between new capabilities, security, upgrades; communicate decisions clearly.
• Champion AI-driven velocity: use AI tooling to improve planning, coding, and ops.
• Own cross-functional coordination: coordinate inbound requests and dependencies across teams.
• Partner across Platform Org for shared roadmaps and delivery commitments.
