Job summary

Ascendion seeks a Tech Lead - Java Developer in Columbus, OH or Plano, TX (onsite 5 days/week). You will lead Java-based microservices, drive cloud-native designs, and mentor teams in a fast-paced AI-enabled engineering environment.

Strong hands-on Java, AWS, and database expertise are required to accelerate modernization for Fortune 500 clients and enable scalable, reliable systems.

Qualifications

• 10-12+ years of software development and technical leadership experience.
• Hands-on Java and microservices development proficiency.
• Experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native architecture.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement Java-based microservices architecture and support UI transformation initiatives.
• Drive service design, API integration, and cloud-native architecture.
• Lead PostgreSQL database migration, optimization, and data integration activities.
• Design scalable, highly available AWS solutions and drive CI/CD and DevOps automation.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Java, AWS, QA, and DevOps team members.

Position Details

Job Title: Tech Lead - Java Developer

Location: Columbus, OH or Plano, TX (Onsite - 5 Days/Week)

Required Technical Skills

• 10-12+ years of experience in software development and technical leadership.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Java-based microservices.
• Strong knowledge of AWS cloud services and cloud-native architecture.
• Good experience with PostgreSQL/database design, migration, and optimization.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, distributed systems, and microservices architecture.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation.
• Good understanding of QA automation tools and continuous testing practices.
• Experience in legacy application modernization and cloud migration projects.
• Strong understanding of application performance, scalability, availability, and resiliency.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and implement Java-based microservices architecture and support UI transformation initiatives.
• Drive application decomposition, service design, API integration, and cloud-native architecture.
• Lead PostgreSQL database migration, optimization, and data integration activities.
• Design and implement scalable, highly available, and resilient AWS solutions.
• Drive CI/CD, DevOps automation, infrastructure automation, and deployment processes.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Java, AWS, QA, and DevOps team members.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, business teams, and other engineering teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $140,000-$170,000 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
