Job summary

Ascendion is seeking a highly skilled Java Developer with 8+ years of backend experience. You will build scalable microservices, deploy cloud-native apps on AWS, and work with Aurora PostgreSQL in enterprise environments.

Locations include Manhattan, NY; Plano, TX; Columbus, OH; Wilmington, DE; Jersey City, NJ. Strong knowledge of ECS, Terraform, and CI/CD is required. Join a culture that values learning and impact.

Qualifications

8+ years of professional software development experience.
Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
Experience with relational databases, preferably Aurora PostgreSQL.
Strong understanding of AWS cloud services.
Hands-on experience with ECS and Terraform.
Experience building distributed applications in production environments.
Good communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
Develop and optimize applications leveraging PostgreSQL/Aurora PostgreSQL.
Deploy, manage, and support cloud-native applications on AWS.
Utilize ECS and Terraform for container orchestration and infrastructure automation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Participate in code reviews, testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization initiatives.
Contribute to system design discussions and architectural decisions.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated Java Developer with strong backend expertise in JavaThe ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience building scalable microservices, developing cloud‑native applications on AWS, and working with relational databases in enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture.
Develop and optimize applications leveraging PostgreSQL and relational database design principles.
Deploy, manage, and support cloud-native applications on AWS.
Utilize ECS and Terraform for container orchestration and infrastructure automation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Participate in code reviews, testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization initiatives.
Contribute to system design discussions and architectural decisions.

Required Qualifications:

8+ Years of professional software development experience.

Experience working with relational databases, preferably Aurora PostgreSQL.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $110,000 - $140,000 per annum. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
