Job summary

3stepIT is seeking a Tech Lead to drive the technical delivery of IT solutions, reporting to the Global IT Business Partner. This hybrid role is based in Warren, NJ or Dallas, TX, blending remote work with regular in-office collaboration with business stakeholders and technical teams.

You will lead architecture and design, coordinate with project managers, analysts, vendors, and other stakeholders, and ensure secure, scalable IT services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of proven experience as a Tech Lead in a technology-driven environment.
• Experience leading technical teams and delivering large IT projects.
• Strong cloud know-how and modern development practices (CI/CD, Agile).
• Solid understanding of software architecture and design patterns.
• Experience with security and data protection concepts; familiarity with ITIL or similar.

Tech Lead

Reporting to: Global IT Business Partner

The Tech Lead plays a key role in driving the successful technical delivery of IT solutions, ensuring projects meet established timelines, quality standards, and performance expectations. Working closely with software engineers, project managers, product owners, and other business and technical stakeholders, the Tech Lead translates business needs into clear, actionable technical solutions. This role helps define what needs to be delivered and determines how it will be implemented in collaboration with the development team. The Tech Lead also ensures requirements are clearly documented, converted into actionable development tickets, and appropriately prioritized to support efficient and successful delivery.

Tech Lead also acts as a technical owner for named solution(s), such as ERP, AssetIQ, CRM, ServiceNow, Finance, etc. systems. Tech Lead understands a big picture of all 3stepIT products, and services, and the named solution(s) on a detailed functional architecture level. This role will be technical owner primary for solutions used locally in the US.

Work arrangement

This is a hybrid role based out of our Warren, New Jersey or Dallas, Texas office. Will work remotely and onsite, with regular in-office presence to support collaboration with business stakeholders, technical teams, and leadership.

Main responsibilities & tasks

Tech Leadership

• Architecture & Design: Lead and ensure together with architects and other stakeholders a robust and scalable design, and secure IT solutions that meet business requirements.
• Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, business analysts, vendors, and other teams to align technical initiatives with business objectives. Communicate technical concepts and progress to non-technical stakeholders and participate in project/sprint planning and estimation activities.
• Performance & Scalability: Drive optimal performance, security, and scalability of the applications and systems being developed.
• Problem Solving: Lead the resolution of challenges to ensure that project risks are identified and mitigated effectively.
• Documentation: Ensure all relevant technical documentation is created, maintained, and easily accessible for future reference.
• Dev/partner coordination: Ensure all relevant items are documented as user stories for development teams, and roadmap/backlogs are up to date.
• Delivery ownership: Owns and ensures the delivery of technical outputs for projects (unless there is a dedicated Project Manager having that ownership). Owns the partnership and dev ops for selected platforms/systems/applications.
• System/process ownership: Owns the named solution(s) on a technical level, understands how solution(s) are built and how the process(es) are run through the solutions. Help defining named solution(s) strategy and vision together with stakeholders.
• Partner management: Possibility to own partner contracts and budget towards projects. Oversee consultants’ work and performance.
• Security & Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant security & data related policies and/or standards.
• Research & Innovation: Stay updated on new technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and promote their adoption within the team.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• 3+ years of proven experience as a Tech lead, preferably in a technology-driven complex business environment.
• Proven experience leading technical teams and delivering large-scale IT projects.
• End-to-End business process understanding.
• General know-how with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and modern development practices (CI/CD, Agile methodologies).
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and development best practices.
• Handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Act proactively and take action.
• Balance short‑term business pressure with long‑term health.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, ability to communicate across different organizational functions.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and data protection standards.
• Familiarity with ITIL or other IT service management frameworks.
• General know-how in Agile or Scrum methodologies.
