Job summary

Salt Lake Community College is seeking a Lab Assistant to support daily operations in the Student Open Lab. You will assist students, troubleshoot hardware and software, and keep lab equipment in good working order under the Lab Coordinator’s direction.

Responsibilities include responding to in-person requests, guiding users through diagnostic steps, installing software, and maintaining printers and peripherals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with CIS1020 (or equivalent) and a grade of C or higher.
• 1 year paid experience in a computer-related or customer service role.
• Strong communication and customer-service orientation.
• Solid knowledge of Windows operating systems, Office Suite, and hardware/software troubleshooting.
• Ability to learn systems quickly and work with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Provide dependable daily lab support to students.
• Assist students with class assignments and general computer use.
• Install software and configure hardware in the lab.
• Troubleshoot PCs, printers, and peripherals.
• Respond to in-person, phone, and email help requests.
• Maintain lab cleanliness and organize supplies.
• Collaborate with staff, faculty, and students from diverse backgrounds.
