Job summary

Universal Health Services seeks an ER Technician to support emergency department care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role involves following the care plan, addressing patient needs, and ensuring smooth patient flow across all ages in a fast-paced ED.

Requirements include High School diploma, current BLS, CPI within 30 days, and credentials such as EMT/CNA/MA or RN coursework in progress. Dysrhythmia certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association).
• CPI required within 30 days of hire.
• CA EMT, CNA or Medical Assistant required - OR - RN student with 2 semesters of clinical coursework.
• Basic dysrhythmia certification or obtained within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Administer patient care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.
• Follow the plan of care set by the RN and/or physician.
• Manage needs of patients across age groups from infancy to geriatrics.
• Perform direct and indirect patient care duties in the Emergency Department to ensure smooth patient flow.

Position Description

Reporting to the Director of Emergency Services, the ER Technician is responsible for administering patient care to designated patients under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse. The technician follows the plan of care set by the registered nurse and/or physician, managing the individual needs of patients with regard to their age and clinical diagnosis. The technician performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties in the Emergency Department to ensure and maintain smooth patient flow. The ER Technician has specialized skills and knowledge in Emergency Care for all patients from infancy through geriatric.

Qualifications

• One year experience in an acute care setting preferred.
• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• CPI is required within 30 days of hire.
• CA EMT, CNA or Medical Assistant required - OR - Currently enrolled in RN program with successful completion of 2 semesters of clinical coursework.
• Basic dysrhythmia certification or obtained within 6 months of hire.
