Job summary

Appian Corporation seeks an Associate Counsel for our technology legal team in the United States. This role supports the marketing group and collaborates with contracts teams on security, data privacy, and AI issues within software contracts.

The position is based at our HQ in McLean, VA, with an expectation to be in the office five days a week to foster collaboration and drive excellence. You will work cross-functionally to enable strong and compliant commercial outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and a JD from an accredited law school.
• Active bar membership in good standing.
• 2+ years of experience as a practicing attorney in-house or corporate counsel at a tech company.
• Experience with marketing compliance, data privacy, or information security frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Partner with global marketing to review promotions and brand collateral for compliance.
• Support complex enterprise contracts focusing on security, data privacy, and cloud infra.
• Draft and negotiate technology clauses including security and AI terms.
• Assess regulatory developments and data compliance requirements.
