About the PositionAs a Team Lead in the Renewable Substations group, you will manage a team comprised of engineers, drafters, designers, and/or technicians. A Team Lead’s primary responsibility will be the accurate, timely, and quality completion of Electrical Engineering scopes assigned to the team. The Team Lead will assist in the development of the departments Standard Best Practices (SBP’s) and enforcing/implementing them when pertinent. Team Leads will be a mentor and coach to employees on their team and help them grow individually as professionals.Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000 / yearThe salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.Essential ResponsibilitiesPerforms detailed design of all aspects of electrical power systems to include one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, grounding design, general arrangement, selection of equipment, writing of equipment specifications, project and construction cost estimates, and project schedulingPrepares computer-based models and perform power system studies on utility and industrial/commercial electrical power transmission and distribution systems, including short circuit, load flow, relay coordination, arc flash, motor starting, power factor, harmonic analysis, and other related studies. Employee should create a simple hand check to quantify the computer aided resultsDevelops protective relay settings. Set, test, wire, and install relaying and control systemsReviews equipment data sheets, manuals, and testing reports for design and approvalsSeeks opportunities for value engineering and efficiencies in designAssigns work to and coordinates work with entry-level engineers, technicians, or administrative staffReviews and verifies the work of engineers, designers, drafters, and field service personnel for general quality and accuracyManages and supports employee development and growth through individualized development plansSupports business development via Seller-Doer, assists with marketing tasks, and prepares proposals as neededAssists with establishing and managing engineering budget and scope expectations. Prepare technical write-up for applicable change ordersReviews submittals for conformance with client specifications and designProvides field assistance, troubleshooting, and observation reportsMaintains professional understanding of all applicable Codes and Standards, and construction practicesMaintains strong and responsive Company-Client relationships, particularly for communication pertaining to specific assignments and meeting topicsMaintains high ethical and professional standardsWorks additional time beyond 40 hours/week to complete projects, proposals and/or administrative functions, as requiredAttends conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of workChecking the work of designers, drafters, and field service personnel for general quality and accuracy as requiredUnderstanding and applications of applicable Codes and StandardsAttends safety training and follow safety rules and guidelinesOther job-related responsibilities as assignedMust HaveEducation: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferredExperience: 5+ years of relevant engineering or field experienceLicensure: FE is required, PE is preferredKnowledge and familiarity with medium and low voltage distribution, switchgear, motor control centers, and industrial instrumentation and controlsProficiency with AutoCADHigh proficiency with power system software such as DIgSILENT/PowerFactory, EasyPower, ETAP or SKM, CDEGS, and CYMCAP preferredProficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and standard computer softwareProven record of delivering a high standard of quality work with attention to detailAbility to develop staff through mentoring and coachingA strong command of the English languageGood interpersonal and people skillsApplicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basisNice to HaveRenewable (solar, wind, BESS, etc.) experience is a plus, but not requiredWorking ConditionsWork Environment:Work is performed in an office setting and some field work may be requiredTravel:Limited: 10 – 15%Physical Activities:Managerial Responsibility:Must be able to lift 50lbs.Team Member is responsible for managing their own work and schedule and the work and schedule of their team with input from supervisor and completing assigned tasks.
