Job summary

NiSource is seeking a Team Leader in Design/Drafting to guide a team of designers and drafters across Columbus, Canonsburg, Merrillville, Lexington, and Chester locations. The role combines leadership with hands-on 3D AutoCAD work and GIS data integration.

You will ensure proper resourcing, maintain design templates, review plans for accuracy, and mentor junior staff while coordinating with Engineering, Field Ops, and Construction on large distribution projects.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
5+ years of design/drafting experience.
Experience leading design projects from concept through completion.
Ability to mentor and train junior designers and drafters.
Valid Driver's license.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor direct reports and implement processes to enable achievement of team goals.
Provide direction and feedback, monitor performance and coach as needed.
Evaluate resources and adjust to support workflow.
Maintain AutoCAD templates and libraries for consistency across Engineering.
Review project plans and specifications to ensure accurate drafting; produce 3D models in AutoCAD.
Assist with site survey data aggregation for new installations and upgrades; integrate GIS data for site analysis.
Collaborate with Field Engineering, Design Engineering, Field Operations, Construction and other stakeholders to meet strategic goals.
