Job summary

Northwest Nazarene University is seeking a Teaching & Learning Specialist to support faculty in strengthening teaching and student learning through coaching, observation, and faculty development. The role focuses on course design, outcomes, and using technology to enhance learning, with an emphasis on integrating Christian faith and learning.

The successful candidate will collaborate with TLC leadership, stay current with research in teaching and learning, and guide faculty in designing

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education, curriculum and instruction, adult learning, educational leadership, instructional design, educational technology, or a related field.
• Two years of experience in teaching, faculty development, instructional coaching, curriculum/course development, or a related educational role.
• Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching practices, including active learning, student engagement, assessment, learning outcomes, and instructional alignment.
• Experience facilitating professional development, workshops, consultations, coaching, or other learning experiences for adult learners.
• Ability to establish collaborative, supportive, and non-evaluative relationships with faculty and communicate instructional expertise with confidence and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Provides instructional coaching, consultation, and mentoring to faculty to strengthen teaching effectiveness and student learning.
• Conducts formative classroom observations and provides supportive feedback aligned with teaching goals.
• Designs, facilitates, and assesses faculty development programming on active learning, student engagement, and faith and learning integration.
• Guides faculty in effective course design, including measurable learning outcomes and alignment of activities and assessments.
• Supports integration of Christian faith and learning into course design and student experiences.
