Job summary

Academies of Math and Science in Phoenix is seeking a Paraprofessional (Teacher’s Assistant) to support teachers and provide individualized and small-group instruction, help with classroom management, and create a positive, inclusive learning environment for K-8 students.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, experience with children, and the ability to obtain a fingerprint clearance card; bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• Required: High School Diploma or equivalent or higher.
• Previous experience working with children in an educational or youth-focused setting.
• Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Responsibilities

• Support lead Teachers in delivering instruction by assisting with lesson activities, classroom management, and transitions.
• Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to reinforce skills and support individualized learning plans.
• Assist in maintaining a safe, orderly, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Substitute for lead teachers as needed to ensure learning continues uninterrupted.
• Prepare instructional materials, set up classroom resources, and assist with grading or documentation as directed.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to meet students' needs.
