Job summary

Phoenixville Area School District is seeking a paraprofessional to assist certified staff in the classroom, reinforcing reading, math, and language arts while supporting student learning and behavior.

You will work with individuals and small groups, help prepare materials, maintain records, and supervise during non-instructional periods and field trips. Experience with special needs students is desirable, and you will collaborate with families and staff to promote inclusive education.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of college level coursework or passing of examination as required by the No Child Left Behind Act.
• Prior experience working with special needs children desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, and other skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning.
• Assist in administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests, and assessments.
• Support classroom preparations and reinforce instructional materials.
• Maintain records documenting student learning and performance.
• Support behavioral management to maintain a safe, orderly classroom.
• Supervise students in non-instructional areas and accompany on field trips.
• Assist with parent contact to foster involvement and inclusion.
• Support students with special needs to maximize inclusion and participation.
• Follow safety rules and procedures for students with disabilities or other needs.
