Job summary

Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, MA seeks a Teaching Assistant for Illustration I to support classroom instruction in Fall 2026. The role requires a self-driven, communicative candidate who can assist with course content, critique, and student questions.

The TA will help prepare spaces and materials, manage the course Discord, and provide peer tutoring outside class hours. Availability on Mondays and Wednesdays is essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledgeable of fundamental visual communication practices; able to articulate concepts and ideas effectively.

• Ability to research and present materials to assist with assignments, creative references, or student troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a secondary teaching instructor in class, must be available Monday and Wednesday 12:00pm – 3:00pm during the semester.
• Work with the faculty with the delivery of the course content and assisting students with assignments as needed.
• Prepare the instructional space for classes on a weekly basis, making sure the necessary course materials and equipment are prepared, the classroom is organized and set-up for instruction.
• Clean up classroom space and materials as needed at the end of class.
• Help prepare and manage the course Discord and other course materials.
• Assist students with learning and troubleshooting processes and projects, in particular with composition, ideation, perspective, or other basic drawing concerns.
• Be a resource for students outside of class (peer to peer tutoring style)

Hours Needed Each Week: 6+ hours per week

Expected Duration of the Job: Fall 2026

Pay: $16 per hour

Summary: Illustration is looking for a self-driven, communicative, and energetic individual to help with instruction for the Fall 2026 Illustration I class. Students should carry a positive attitude, driven and communicative with fellow students in the classroom, adaptable to changing schedules, assignments, or student concerns, and readily help with assignment preparation and critique.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands
