Schoolcraft College in Livonia, Michigan is looking for a Classroom Instructor. The ideal candidate will possess an MFA in Art or a Master's degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Art. Two years of college-level teaching experience is preferred.
This role requires the employee to engage in various physical activities and to possess strong language and reasoning skills. The work environment may involve occasional exposure to mechanical parts or laboratory settings.
Job Title: Classroom Instructor
This job requires the employee to stand regularly, use hands to handle or feel, and talk or hear. Occasionally, the employee may reach with hands and arms, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift up to 10 lbs., seldom 25 lbs. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of trustees.
Ability to work with concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to intellectual and practical problems. Ability to handle nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
The work environment may involve occasional work near moving mechanical parts or in a laboratory. The employee must follow safety rules, operate laboratory equipment, and tolerate laboratory chemicals. Noise level is usually moderate.
