Job summary

Lifespan is hiring Teacher Assistants to support children with developmental delays and typically developing peers in a blended, inclusive Early Learning Center in Statesville, NC. The position is full-time, with hours 7am to 3pm, and offers wage support at $12.00–$13.00 per hour.

No prior behavioral health experience is required as training is provided; benefits are available for full-time staff, and the organization emphasizes a supportive team environment and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One-year experience in a child care setting or working with special education students preferred.
• Pass criminal record and healthcare registry check.
• Must be registered to obtain North Carolina Early Childhood Credentials within 6 months of hire.
• First Aid/CPR certification required or training provided by American Red Cross instructors.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the Center Curriculum.
• Develop relationships in the classroom promoting social emotional learning and well-being.
• Assist teacher with implementing goal oriented planned activities.
• Ensure a safe, positive and stimulating learning environment.
• Perform routine procedures such as positioning, diapering and feeding.
• Support inclusion and integration.
• Mentor children to help build social skills and relationships.
• Use electronic health record to document activities and significant events.
• Submit documentation and payroll data according to scheduled deadlines.
• Complete initial and ongoing training, and participate in staff development activities.

Hours: M-F 7am to 3pm

Rate of Pay: $12.00 per hour

• Pass Drug Screen
• High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
• One-year experience in a child care setting or working with special education students preferred
• Must be registered to obtain North Carolina Early Childhood Credentials within 6 months of the date of hire
• Commitment to achieve competency in required knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Note: Current First Aid/CPR blended or classroom certification is required. If you do not currently have certification from an approved provider, our American Red Cross certified instructors will provide you the training.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds independently (per policy)
