Job summary

LIFESPAN is hiring compassionate, hardworking Direct Support Professionals to support people with disabilities in the home and community setting. You will provide 1:1 care, teach skills for independence, and help with daily living activities, meals, and mobility.

A flexible work environment with training and growth opportunities is offered. You will be part of a team that emphasizes well-being, dignity, and choice, with monitoring of health and safety objectives and documentation in the EHR.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Possess a valid driver’s license for at least two years.
• Pass criminal record and healthcare registry check.
• Pass driving record check if transportation is provided.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification required; agency training provided if missing.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds independently.

Responsibilities

• Teach skills to promote independence.
• Support community inclusion and integration.
• Mentor individuals to help build social skills and relationships.
• Provide guidance and support in daily activities.
• Assist with eating, bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, and other daily living activities.
• Assist with meal preparation.
• Monitor and report on health and safety objectives.
• Support participation in leisure and recreational activities.
• Document activities in the electronic health record and meet deadlines.
• Complete initial and ongoing training and participate in staff development.
• Administer medications as trained; nursing team provides support.
• Provide transportation to and from designated sites.
• Assist with mobility using transfer techniques, Hoyer lift, and/or gait belt.

Schedule

As needed; You could be called in to work Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

What you’ll do

• Submit documentation and payroll data according to scheduled deadlines.
• Complete initial and ongoing training, and participate in staff development activities.
• Depending on the person you support, you may be required to:
• Administer medications. Training is provided. Nursing team supports you.
• Provide transportation to and from designated sites.
• Assist people with mobility needs, e.g. utilize transfer techniques, a Hoyer lift and/or gait belt. Training is provided.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of two consecutive years
• Pass criminal record and healthcare registry check
• Pass driving record check if providing transportation
• High school graduate or equivalent (GED)
• Commitment to achieve competency in required knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Note: Current First Aid/CPR blended or classroom certification is required. If you do not currently have certification from an approved provider, our American Red Cross certified instructors will provide you the training.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds independently (per policy)
