Job summary

The Hardy County Board of Education is seeking a part-time instructional assistant to support reading and/or math intervention for elementary and/or middle school students. The position runs ten hours per week for up to twenty-five weeks, with a total salary not to exceed $9,375.

Employment is contingent on student enrollment and program funding. Starting for the 2026-2027 school year, this role is paid at $37.50 per hour through 21st CCLC grant funds.

Qualifications

• West Virginia Professional Teaching Certificate.
• Strong knowledge of elementary and/or middle school curriculum, with emphasis on reading and/or math intervention.
• Successful completion of the Hardy County interview process.
• Complete all required county and WVDE trainings.
• Ability to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Prior unsatisfactory evaluations may disqualify applicants.
• Unsatisfactory interview performance disqualifies applicants.
• Favorable references are required; unfavorable references disqualify applicants.
• Past dismissal or contract non-renewal for cause disqualifies applicants.

• Additional Minimum Requirements:
• Applicants who have recent unsatisfactory evaluations will not be eligible for consideration.
• Applicants who demonstrate unsatisfactory interview performance are not eligible for consideration.
• Applicants who receive unfavorable reference recommendations are not eligible for consideration.
• Applicants who have been dismissed or who have had their contracts non-renewed for cause are not eligible for consideration.

Employment contingent on student enrollment. Location of program subject to change based upon student enrollment. Position may be cancelled during program dates dependent on student enrollment.

Start Date: 2026-2027 School Year Only
Salary: $37.50 per hour for ten (10) hours per week for a maximum of twenty-five (25) weeks, said salary shall not exceed $9,375.00 – paid through 21st CCLC grant funds.
