What You'll Do as a Taxi Dispatch Coordinator:

Dispatch & Transportation Coordination

• Assign trips and transportation requests to drivers based on availability, location, and service demands.
• Monitor active trips and driver activity throughout the day.
• Coordinate ride coverage to ensure efficient and timely service.
• Make real-time adjustments when service disruptions, schedule changes, or unexpected challenges occur.
• Maintain communication with drivers to support safe and efficient operations.
• Assist in balancing service demand with available fleet resources.

Driver Support

• Serve as a primary point of contact for drivers during their shifts.
• Provide trip information, service updates, and operational guidance.
• Help drivers navigate scheduling changes and service requests.
• Respond to driver questions and elevate issues when necessary.
• Support driver success by ensuring they have the information needed to perform effectively.

Customer Service & Communication

• Communicate professionally with passengers regarding trip status, estimated arrival times, delays, or service updates.
• Address customer concerns and service requests promptly and professionally.
• Coordinate with internal departments to ensure customer issues are resolved efficiently.
• Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
• Help create a positive transportation experience for every passenger.

Operations & Administrative Support

• Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, trip assignments, and service updates.
• Enter and update information within dispatch and transportation management systems.
• Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Generate reports related to dispatch activity, trip volume, and service performance.
• Ensure operational information remains accurate and up to date.

Problem Solving & Service Management

• Quickly respond to scheduling conflicts, traffic concerns, vehicle issues, and operational disruptions.
• Analyze situations and implement effective solutions with minimal service impact.
• Coordinate with management and operations teams to maintain service reliability.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• Help ensure operational goals and performance standards are consistently achieved.

Qualifications of a Taxi Dispatch Coordinator:

Required

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Excellent multitasking and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.

• Familiarity with GPS systems, dispatch software, or transportation management platforms.
• Experience coordinating schedules, drivers, or transportation services.
• Knowledge of taxi, shuttle, paratransit, or transportation operations.
