Job summary

Abacus! is seeking a Staff Tax Accountant to join our Branson, MO office. You will prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for high-net-worth owners across industries, assist with tax planning, and ensure compliance with firm standards.

You will collaborate with Senior Accountants, Managers, and Partners to deliver accurate returns and provide advisory support. The role emphasizes client service, accuracy, and meeting deadlines in a full-time setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA eligibility preferred
• 1-3 years of tax preparation experience, ideally in public accounting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Experience with UltraTax, QuickBooks, CCH, and AdvanceFlow preferred
• Ability to pass a CJIS background check

Responsibilities

• Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Assist with tax planning strategies for high-net-worth business owners and related entities
• Research tax issues and provide recommendations to leadership
• Review client documentation for accuracy, identify discrepancies, and propose corrections
• Prepare workpapers and schedules to support the review process
• Meet with clients to gather information, present findings, and deliver completed returns
• Maintain accurate client records and ensure compliance with firm policies
• Monitor filing deadlines and ensure timely submission of returns
• Respond to client inquiries in a professional and timely manner
• Collaborate across tax, audit, and accounting teams to support client needs
