Job summary

Travis County Clerk seeks a Tax Specialist IV to lead training, coaching and employee development within the Tax Collector division. The role focuses on guiding new hires, conducting performance reviews, and developing procedures to improve accuracy and overall operations.

Under limited supervision, you will perform advanced clerical tasks, lead training initiatives, and partner with supervisors to enhance department performance. Location: Austin, TX.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or G.E.D. AND eight (8) years of increasingly responsible customer service, office/clerical experience, including the operation of modern office procedures and computer equipment to include word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and a variety of software packages.
• Knowledge of policies related to motor vehicle, tax, court, and voter registration; ability to supervise and provide training.

Responsibilities

• Oversee new employee orientation and training; conduct 30-, 60-, 90-, and 120-day reviews.
• Provide individualized and group training to strengthen knowledge, accuracy, and consistency.
• Develop and document procedures; monitor performance trends; conduct quality assurance audits of daily work, phone calls, and email communications.
• Partner with supervisors to evaluate performance and implement improvements.
• Coach and mentor employees to improve accuracy and reduce errors.
• Create training materials, job aids, and reference guides.
