Position Overview

KPMG is seeking a Senior Manager to join our State and Local Tax (SALT) practice.

Responsibilities

• Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax issues including compliance, advising, planning, structuring, and controversies.
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to provide subject matter expertise to clients.
• Review information on state income tax returns throughout the filing process.
• Research and draft technical memoranda or presentations on various state and local tax topics.
• Support tax controversies, including audit preparations, representations, and protests.
• Support audit teams with review and analysis of state tax-related financials; build and maintain client relationships; mentor staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum of eight years of recent experience in tax research, reviewing state income tax returns, and providing technical advice on multi-state issues.
• Bachelors degree from an accredited institution; CPA, JD / LLM, EA, or MTX credentials are preferred. Candidates without these have one year to obtain one after hire.
• Proven ability to lead teams in delivering state and local tax compliance and consulting services.
• Strong business development and relationship management skills.
• Excellent communication, writing, research, and management skills.
• Ability to thrive in a high-energy team environment.
