Responsibilities:

1. Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax issues including compliance, advising, planning, structuring, and controversies.
2. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide industry and subject matter expertise to clients.
3. Review information on state income tax returns pre- and post-preparation.
4. Research and draft technical memoranda or slide decks on various state and local tax questions.
5. Support tax controversies, prepare clients for audits, represent them at hearings, and draft protests.
6. Assist audit teams with review and analysis of state tax-related items; manage client relationships and mentor staff.

Qualifications:

• Minimum eight years of recent experience in tax research, review of state income tax returns, and technical advice on multi-state issues.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; CPA, JD/LLM, EA, or MTX credential required or within one year of hire.
• Proven ability to lead teams in state and local tax compliance and consulting.
• Strong business development, relationship-building, communication, and research skills.
• Desire to perform in a high-energy team environment.
