Responsibilities:
  1. Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax issues including compliance, advising, planning, structuring, and controversies.
  2. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing relevant subject matter and industry knowledge to clients.
  3. Review information on state income tax returns before, during, and after preparation.
  4. Research and draft technical memoranda or slide decks on income, franchise, sales and use tax, and other state and local tax questions.
  5. Support tax controversies including preparing clients for audits, representing them at hearings, and preparing protests.
  6. Help audit teams review and analyze state tax-related income and balance sheet items; build and manage client relationships; supervise, mentor, and develop staff.
Qualifications:
  1. Minimum eight years of recent experience in tax research, reviewing state income tax returns, and providing technical advice on multi-state tax issues.
  2. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; Licensed CPA, JD/LLM, EA, or MTX, or other approved credentials. If not possessed at hire, must obtain within one year.
  3. Demonstrated ability to lead teams delivering state and local income tax compliance and consulting services.
  4. Ability to develop business and foster relationships internally and with clients.
  5. Excellent writing, compliance, communication, management, and tax research skills.
  6. Ability and desire to perform in a high-energy team environment.
