A growing, full-service public accounting firm is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join its team in the Houston / Montgomery County area.

This opportunity is ideal for a technically strong tax professional who wants to be more than a reviewer. The firm is looking for someone who can combine strong tax and accounting knowledge with critical thinking, client relationship management and team leadership.

The practice provides audit, accounting, tax, consulting and advisory services across a diverse client base, offering excellent exposure to complex and varied work.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and review complex tax engagements across a diverse client portfolio.
• Identify wider accounting, tax and business issues beyond traditional compliance.

Must Have Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant public accounting / tax experience.
• Previous experience managing engagements, clients and/or team members.
• Strong technical tax knowledge and a solid understanding of accounting.
• Excellent critical-thinking and problem-solving ability.
• Strong client-facing, communication and relationship-management skills.
• Ability to identify issues beyond the immediate tax return or compliance requirement.
• Collaborative, team-first approach with a willingness to mentor others.
• Comfortable working predominantly in-office.

Nice to Have

• Big Four, national or strong regional public accounting background.
• Broad tax experience rather than being highly specialised in one area.
• Exposure to Federal, State, International, Property and/or Sales & Use Tax.
• Experience across multiple industries and client types.
• Tax consulting and advisory experience alongside compliance.
• Commercial awareness and experience contributing to client/practice growth.
