KPMG LLP is seeking a Tax Intern to join our State & Local Tax practice in Chicago. You will review and organize tax data, apply business rules, and support the processing of returns using KPMG systems.

The role emphasizes hands-on work with AI, Alteryx, and Power BI to enhance tax insights. Ideal candidates are enrolled in a relevant degree program, with coursework in information systems or data analytics, and a commitment to CPA eligibility.

Qualifications

Enrolled in accredited college/university; pursuing degree/major as listed.
Additional academic credits required post-graduation to obtain degree and CPA eligibility.
Preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Coursework/minor in information systems, software engineering, CS or data & analytics preferred.
Development experience with VBA in Access required; .NET experience preferred.
Strong technical/business acumen with agility and collaboration.
Ability to navigate AI, Alteryx and Power BI in tax processes.

Responsibilities

Review monthly tax data for sales, use and telecommunications tax to ensure proper format for processing.
Assign data to correct tax locations, codes, authorities, taxpayers, and amounts.
Apply client business rules to modify data for tax processing systems.
Process data for returns using KPMG tax systems.
Identify client tech requirements for tax compliance processes and system improvements.
Design, test and troubleshoot indirect tax tech solutions using Access/Excel/SQL Server.
Build capabilities with AI, Alteryx, Power BI to support client service delivery.
