Job summary

KPMG LLP seeks a Tax Associate to join the State & Local Tax practice in Chicago. You will review monthly tax data, apply client rules, and process returns using mechanized systems while contributing to tax technology improvements.

Qualified candidates hold a degree in business, accounting, or MIS, with strong analytical and communication skills and the ability to work on-site. Some travel may be required, and U.S. work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• Degree in business, accounting, MIS or equivalent; coursework in information systems preferred.
• GPA 3.0+ preferred
• Experience with VBA in Access and .NET preferred
• Strong tax or accounting basics and ability to learn new tax technology tools
• Excellent communication, time management and leadership skills.
• Willingness to travel and work on-site as needed; authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Review sales, use and telecommunications tax data monthly for input into mechanized tax processing systems.
• Code and classify data into location codes, tax types, categories and authorities.
• Apply client-specific business rules to tax data for processing systems.
• Process data for returns using mechanized tax systems.
• Identify and document requirements for tax compliance processes and system improvements.
• Design, test and troubleshoot tax technology solutions using Access, Excel, or SQL Server.
• Build capabilities in AI, Alteryx, Power BI for client service delivery.
