Job summary

KPMG LLP is seeking a Tax Associate in the State & Local Tax practice to support multi-state tax issues, compliance, and planning. You’ll engage in research, client advisement and contingency management while collaborating with a cross-functional team to deliver innovative tax solutions.

You will leverage AI, Alteryx, Power BI and MS Office tools to drive insights, stay current on tax developments, and build strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• Must have or be pursuing JD and/or LLM in Taxation or equivalent program.
• GPA 3.0+ preferred
• Coursework in information systems, software engineering, computer science or data analytics preferred
• Strong tax research skills
• Demonstrated ability to excel and drive strategic outcomes with collaboration

Responsibilities

• Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax issues including compliance, consulting, planning and controversies
• Assist clients with business tax planning transactions and M&A including identifying state/local tax issues
• Research and draft state and local tax memoranda
• Supervise shared services team members and interns
• Analyze, prepare and review tax workpapers and returns, estimated payments and extensions
• Assist in handling notices including coordination of shared resources
• Develop capabilities in AI, Alteryx, Power BI and other technologies for client service delivery
• Build strong client relationships within a multi-disciplinary team
• Stay current on state and local tax developments
